Here's what pisses me off about modern vinyl releases, though: the announcement simply says "remastered for vinyl from original 1/4" source tapes," but if you read the press release, Norman talks about digitizing those tapes at 24/96 for mastering. The whole point of vinyl releases is to preserve the original analog sound, so why the f**k digitize? To add BS reverb? If it's to permit Plangent Processing, then I suppose you could make a case that the eventual sound will be better digitized but with some of the tape anomalies removed, but I'd rather have the original sound unless the tapes are seriously degraded. Oh well, I may get volume 4 anyway because I'd at least like to hear the 24/96 remastering, and on the assumption that it will sell out and I could probably get my money back down the road.

Looks like they have taken a hatchet to some of the songs/jams here. I ordered Vol.1, and despite the lineage issues the sound was satisfying. I won't go into details but Brookvale's customer service was a joke, a bad joke. oh well it is a record store. These releases seem to have gotten a tepid response, I wonder if they'll make it all the way to 36. Looking forward to volumes 8, 26, 28, & 29.

My local record store was having a 35% off sale today, so I went in and saw DP3 on the new release rack. Price tag: $89.99! Even with the sale that was way too much. Instead I picked up the Aoxomoxoa (original mix) vinyl and DP25 on cd, which in the end probably cost the same as if I had bought the DP3.

which dicks picks has the following lyrics in the last verse...

Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
I love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
and on the assumption that it will sell out
I could probably get my money back down the road.
